I wonder if I write a novel at work while doing my job, if the employer owns it. Now, what if I write a song or poem in my head, while delivering mail. And I become famous, and I say "I wrote that while delivering mail" on David Letterman. Can Canada Post (or whatever you have in the United Theocracy of Mercia) claim it? Not likely.
