light in the world
i’m in Torino, Italy today, and I’ve been sitting in the lobby wasting some time as i get ready to head to the triple helix conference. And i noted that the way we structure the light in a room affects us significantly. it realigns spaces and defines relationships. What keyed me on this is the difference between looking at my laptop screen vs looking at the people and darkness in the Lobby. It is basically an l shaped room with dark spots where the most activity is. They’ve targetted lights so you can see in certain ways and not see in others. this is heightened by the perpetual light of my screen, which is the brightest white light in the room. all the others lights are yellow.
