In the ultimate world of ends (which the end-to-end Net continues fundamentally to be), ISPs become nothing more than storage and pipes. Stupid things, as David Isenberg correctly says.

Because if they're not stupid, they get all smart like Verio and start shutting down whole sites and communities.

now, granted people do need jobs, but at what point do you need to lie to get one? what is the absolute goal in doing something like that? don't get me wrong, i've put skills on my resume when i was starting out that i had less tha a weeks time working with, but when called, i would admit that i did require a bit of time to get more familiar with them, though for a while now, i've stopped using that tactic, it became boring in the boom.

POMO Programming. Dethe has found a very funny … well, here's the relevant excerpt from the email he sent me: …there's a wonderful paper on Postmodern Programming. The authors presented this at OOPSLA last month, and it was one of the highlights of the conference for me. My favorite part is when they define the essence of the PoMo programming language: Languages get defined by the problems they solve. The first exercise for many programmers is to compute the first thousand prime numbers.
