who owns web 2.0?
who owns web 2.0?:
Via Tama Leaver, I found this great overview of who owns what from Amy Webb- as you can see, Google, Yahoo and the rest are far more likely than Murdoch, at this point, to end up controlling our media lives in five or ten years time. Amy Webb suggests printing it out from the PDF and hanging it up in your cubicle. I need something for my office door: this might be it.
Jill points us to this excellent graphic showing who owns which web 2.0 companies. the concentration is pretty clear, but what does it mean for academics? or students?

well I’ve been in chicago for almost a week and mostly have accomplished work on my apt. but I’ve done a good amount of work there. I still need to get some things set up. I still don’t have dsl installed, though that is supposed to happen on the 13th.
I now have to finish a paper and finish about 90 other things:)

Knowledge acquisition is changing radically, UNESCO Declaration states
Knowledge acquisition is changing radically, UNESCO Declaration states:
Knowledge acquisition and sharing will increasingly be technology mediated, and traditional educational processes will be revolutionized, said experts at a UNESCO organized event in Kronberg, Germany, recently.
Adopting the “Kronberg Declaration on the Future of Knowledge Acquisition and Sharing” the high-level experts also said that leaders in the public and private sectors must embrace change in organizations and people by providing opportunities and incentives to facilitate and motivate, as well as to overcome typical barriers in knowledge acquisition and sharing.

this seems like a solid set of of things for people to think about in the next few ears.

working class warrior eh?
You are a Working Class Warrior, also known as a blue-collar Democrat. You believe that the little guy is getting screwed by conservative greed-mongers and corporate criminals, and you’re not going to take it anymore.
