What Color is Your Brain?

GREEN:

At work or in school: I work best by myself. I like to focus on my ideas until my desire for understanding is satisfied. I am easily bored if the subject holds no interest to me. Sometimes, it is hard for me to set priorities because so many things are of interest.
With friends: I may seem reserved. Although my thoughts and feelings run deep, I am uneasy with frequent displays of emotion. I enjoy people who are interesting and of high integrity.
With family: I am probably seen as a loner because I like a lot of private time to think. Sometimes, I find family activities boring and have difficulty following family rules that don’t make sense to me. I show love by spending time with my family and sharing ideas and interests.

Let it rain – And then I was eaten by a grue.

Let it rain – And then I was eaten by a grue.:
>search for commas around subordinate clauses
Surely you jest.

>search for commas prefacing speech
You spy a clutch of young semi-colons here, looking slightly confused.

>get semi-colons
You have the clutch of young semi-colons.

>throw semi-colons in direction of my own writing
I don’t think you need any more of those, young lady.

YouTube – Henry Rollins “America is under attack.”

YouTube – Henry Rollins “America is under attack.”:

——

Henry Rollins is against the forces of Net Neutrality and their related programs. he says ’strike back with vengeance’ and I think that is part of the program… By using debt and overwork to get American’s minds out of social programs and centered on their own interests, the war on freedom in the U.S. prevents people from acting collectively for their own interests. We should be pissed.

How To Choose CD/DVD Archival Media » Ad Terras Per Aspera

How To Choose CD/DVD Archival Media » Ad Terras Per Aspera:
For comparison, DVD-R includes one profile, optimum power output based for that one profile only and uncalibrated towards what wavelength it is for, less precise laser power settings, and no other additional information. Typically, DVD-R burners have to already know how to burn a certain piece of media (and include this information in their firmwares) before they can properly burn to it. New media often is not properly supported.

In addition to the optimum power control profiles, DVD+R also gives four times more scratch space for the drive to calibrate the laser on; more space can only improve the calibration quality. So, in short, DVD+R media exists to simply produce better burns and protect your data better.

Open University Closes a Tradition

Open University Closes a Tradition:
For more than 30 years, the university — which was quick to adopt TV as a means of reaching its hundreds of thousands of enrollees — has produced low-budget programs on subjects as varied as art history and particle physics. The institution has proven to be a remarkably prolific broadcaster, with tens of thousands of shows aired on the BBC, almost of all of them in the wee hours.

But next weekend, Open University will mark its last broadcast. Almost all of its students now have access to the Web, and so campus officials say they’ll distribute course lectures through podcasts and, for those looking for that throwback feel, on DVD’s.

It is the end of an era.

Symbolic Exchange and Death by Baudrillard

By being normalised, that is to say, by extending the logic of equivalences to everyone, society, socialized at last, excludes every antibody. It then creates, in the same movement, specific institutions to receive them, and so, throughout succesive centrueies, prisons, asylums, hospitals and schools have flourished, not to forget the factories, which also began to flourish with the Rights of Man (this is how labour must be understood). Socialisation is nothing but the immense passage from the symbolic exchange of difference to the social logic of equivalence. p. 169
