While I don't support the policy of this war, I always support the soldiers, so send this around and send some people some books

Architecting the Future: Dr. Marc Tremblay. 25 Mar 2003: Ace's Hardware as a detailed interview with Dr. Marc Tremblay, a Distinguished Engineer at Sun. Dr. Tremblay was the co-architect of Sun's first 64-bit processor, the UltraSPARC-I and served as chief architect for the UltraSPARC-II and the dual-core MAJC project. Currently, he is working on a highly multithreaded processor expected to deliver 30 times the throughput of the current 1.2 GHz UltraSPARC III. He shares his insight on how CPU architects will target server workloads in the futu [RootPrompt.org -- Nothing but Unix]

This could be interesting. the technology sounds fun, but we know the speed of the processor isn't currently the major problem with servers. The storage and bus are the slow points.

Another RSS Round-up.

  • RSS Feed Jackpot - The FeedRoom
“I was checking out a link that someone sent me earlier, and stumbled upon this jackpot of RSS feeds. Insane! They've even got one set up for Robert Blake, for chrissake. I'm telling ya – if you don't have a RSS file, I ain't likely to return to your site. M'kay?” [C:PIRILLO.EXE]

  • Last week, Morbus Iff announced that SourceForge is providing RSS feeds for their projects, so you can easily keep track of news for and changes to any of their software projects (such as Mailman!).

  • Old Data Update Tool Gains New Converts
“One researcher has written an RSS application that sends out server status updates. That could allow an information systems department to keep users updated when there are server problems, so that people aren't constantly calling up to report network problems.

'RSS is proving to be a nice, robust and easily used tool for moving data…not just news headlines, but everything–from orders and inventory to whether or not the servers are up,' said Ben Hammersley, a journalist who has written a soon-to-be-published book on RSS. 'Thanks to the tools the RSS development community has made these past few years, it has a great future in the enterprise.' ” [News.com]

I want a coffee robot, but i realize that it would impinge upon the local coffee economy by sending the money that i spend daily getting my cupajoe off to the manufacturer of coffee robots, so I'll spend the money locally.

Coffee Robots.

Coffee Robots

Wow, weird link. I found this picture of a coffee robot when I did the search on “Danger Will Robinson” and it's so nifty. Can you imagine having a coffee robot that makes coffee and keeps you out of danger and walks into your bedroom in the morning with a head full of coffee and wakes you up softly, stroking your cheek with five delicate tin fingers … that's the life.

I owe my friend Dave Winer a housewarming gift. A coffee robot would surely warm his house. [Halley's Comment]
