Return of Joe Isuzu. Fine. Great. I get about a comment a day through the summer and then the first day of classes, when I have no chance of keeping up, I do something that brings a boatload or two of people to my blog. So, with apologies for the shotgun response…

Small revolutions (and other beautiful games).

“Surrealist games and procedures are intended to free words and images from the constraints of rational and discursive order, substituting chance and indeterminancy for premeditation and deliberation… In one particular and important respect Surrealist play is more like a kind of provocative magic. This is in its irrepresible propensity to the transformation of objects, behaviours and ideas. In this aspect of its proceedings Surrealism makes manifest its underlying political programme, its revolutionary intent.”

The above quote comes from The Book of Surrealist Games which, after an evening of fun with friends, inspired me to create an online version to play:

i've owned the book of surrealist games for years now…. it is one of my favorite little books to play with whenever i have time. i use it for all kinds of things, and i even steal ideas from it for lessons and such.

Basic Web Design.

Peter Mentzer over at Wooble Lab has created an excellent Basic Web Design tutorial. It's process oriented and includes Video Demo/Lectures on using Dreamweaver. I highly recommend this resource if you are introducing students to basic web design through Dreamweaver in your classes. Since the course is available under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs 2.0, you can copy the content into your course and maintain mirrors of the videos on your site (attribution and license notice required, of course).

this is cool……. though, i don't think universities should teach this sort of thing as a whole unless it is necessary to get to a higher level of analysis.

Hello Kitty Guitar.

phello_guitarset3.jpg imageAlthough this Hello Kitty guitar is about four times the price of what I'd actually want to pay for it… hey, Hello Kitty guitar! The Fernandez-made electric has a built-in speaker and amplifier so you can plug a headphone right in and start writing your ode to ultimate adorability. And while the polka dot version is shown here, there is apparently a matching sparkly pink version the guy selling these can get a hold of. Now we're talking something worth $400.

What acolyte of rock wouldn't be proud to walk through a smokey club with a matching pink gig bag? None I would prefer to rock to, that's for sure.

not as good as the hello kitty vibrator, which isn't very rare, but funny nonetheless..

Last post on Drupal.. I'm going back to moveabletype. I've used wordpress and drupal all summer, with scant success. Not that they don't work, and work well enough, but they just don't improve the experience to a sufficiently meaningful extent, for my liking. The moveabletype community is more developed,

I disagree -jeremy

I find it easier to modify it, and add/remove bits, and when it comes to setting up other people online, MT is still what I fall back to.

this is really about jason and tool favoritism, mmmm hmmmm

It is all about experimentation and learning. Can't stick with the same thing forever, but when you find something that works, go back to it for your gruntwork. And off I go. [Team Polysynchronous - Just Differently Intelligent - - Just Differently Intelligent -]

drupal is way better, wp is a fallback for those that can't use drupal. jason thinks that drupal management is not broke, but baroque, which it might be. but once you get the hang of it, it is easy. but then again if what you are trying to do is blog very simply, then perhaps mt is what you need, but i doubt it. i use radio, cause i like the aggregator, other people use other things. jason like mt, so he should use mt.
