it wasn’t that long ago… that most fictional cats, by my recollection, spoke in high tea british english…. now they are all internet slang… very interesting.

Don’t forget the interlude from the 1960’s through the 90’s, when many cats talked in purely sarcastic middle American English. I’m not sure the cats realized what a huge influence they would have on human sitcoms of the period, though.
