oooo and it lets people with strong nesting instincts see how zillions of people around the world have decorated their houses! Hours and hours of fun! Maybe I should upload pictures of my condo…
I have to say I’m glad to see that you appreciate the information-bearing value of home design, I’m not sure too many people would. The biggest changes seem to be in the bathrooms and kitchens; the english are so strange to me with their little wee tiny fridges and their washers and dryers in the kitchen. But the wee tiny fridges tell you how often they go shopping in a week, and the washers and dryers…okay I’m not sure what that tells you. That plumbing came after the house?
Rochelle makes an interesting point about English homes with our tiny fridges and washers and dryers in the kitchen. I thing the difference is that most homes in the UK are much smaller that the average home in the States. This is partly because of cultural reasons and mainly down to the fact that we don’t have the space that you guys do. Having said that I love the USA, the people and pretty much everyting about it. I agree that interior design is a great thing to study and talk about. It should really be fun, reflect your personality and fire your creativity too. Then you will have a true feeling of ownership of the interior, so you’ll feel relaxed and at home. I have had very happy experiences with Domane – they are an excellent firm of interior designers who do very impressive interiors. I have worked with them and they are highly professional and full of ideas:
