when do we finally say | Metafilter:
The Reality of Red-State Fascism, by Lew Rockwell. We consistently say ‘Man, we’re on the road to fascism’ yet people fall all over themselves to say ‘We’re nowhere near it.’. Well, when do we say ‘Holy shit…we’re there’? Everybody’s favorite libertarian gives us a timeline of the descent, and lets us know how we are now not just on the brink, but in the midst of Americanized Fascism:

Six Apart Acquires Live Journal
Six Apart Acquires Live Journal: “
6A buys LJ, according to Om’s exclusive. Simply makes sense. The leading blogging tool vendor gets a massive user base (6.5 million users combined total — with 1.4% of 5.6M LJ’s generating $2.325M/yr); and a team with experience serving them at scale with richer community features.
Will be fascinating to see if this brings Blogspace and Journalspace together.

the real end of empire….
globegazette.com – Archived News Search: “On Nov. 22, it officially dropped. According to U.S. Department of Agriculture Economic Research Service estimates released that day, 2005 will be the first year in nearly 50 that America will not turn an agricultural trade surplus.

Now, as America is about to become a net food importer for the first time in generations, Veneman has no explanation of how Bush Administration economic and trade policies have taken American agriculture from a $13.6 billion trade surplus in 2001 to a flat line in four short years.
