Buy Nothing Day tomorrow

Buy Nothing Day tomorrow: “

Kara reminds me that it is once again that time of year to buy nothing. I plan to take my dog to the park to play (barring extreme cold), and watch some movies. (It’s buy nothing, not “don’t use things you’ve ever bought” day.) What will you be doing?

books cited and books that cite on amamzon

amazon.com now offers on many books lists of books that cite it and books that it cites. i personally find this to be terrific. i use citations quite often to establish the context of works and to try to understand what i should read next in some genre, having these lists certainly promotes that, though.. inarguably i am way behind on my reading. here is one of tim’s books with it.

uh huh

You are a brainiac!

Your mind is a vast and powerful thing, capable of handling numerous difficult and complex subjects at once. Few, if any, are your mental equal in America.

When you’re not busy pondering the depths of scientific knowledge and inventing new cures for cancer, diabetes, and body lice, you enjoy reading ancient tomes and playing the piano.

People from Oklahoma fear and despise you.

The Party of Sleaze

The Party of Sleaze: “

Let’s crank the meme into full gear:

AP—Top Bush fund-raisers enjoy an array of perks: One-third of President Bush’s top 2000 fund-raisers or their spouses were appointed to positions in his first administration, from ambassadorships in Europe to seats on policy-setting boards, an Associated Press review found.

The perks for 246 “pioneers” who raised at least $100,000 also included overnight stays in the White House and at Camp David, parties in the White House and at Bush’s Texas ranch, state dinners with world leaders and overseas travel with U.S. delegations to the Olympics and other events, the review found.

The Party of Sleaze

It ties so many threads together: secret energy task force, Haliburton, tax breaks for the millionaires, DeLay, and many more.
