critical inquiry symposium issue on the future of criticism
this issue Volume 30 no. 2 out now has several interesting articles in it. one by latour, one by homi bhaba, jerome mcgann, peter galison, etc. etc. all in all it has alot of interesting commentary about an important tradition of scholarship, and is well worth perusing. some people may get upset because there are some hard lines… but then some people get upset when you tell them that 'solid is a sensation' too:)

googling me. it is interesting to see people googling me over the last few days, i don't know why of course, it might be job applications or somesuch. keep in mind if you are looking here for information about me, you don't get that much other than some rants, some descriptions and some ideas. i treat this much like a scratchpad, notebook or similar device. i use it to track my opinions as they change, as i learn new things, etc. but of late i haven't posted very much scholarly material to it, it has mainly been reporting, agreeing, or disagreeing.

supressing free speech on campus with the patriot act? oh my, people have the right to speak and assemble and non-violently protest as is implied by those rights. the federal government should not be using the patriot act against protesters, but it has, and it will keep doing so until it is repealed so once again, it is time to write your senators and congressman.

8 Questions for Russert — for George W. Bush… (David Corn). 8 Questions for Russert — for George W. Bush… (David Corn) [Common Dreams]
WHy do I think that none of these questions will be asked by Russert? It would make compelling TV, though. Maybe they will have a 5 second delay so they can pull the plug if need be [A Man with a Ph.D. - Richard Gayle's Weblog]

the evidence is mounting, the man purposefully lied to the the public, and congress. he has done things that have yielded great profits to his family while seemingly not benefiting the u.s. in any way. i'd say impeach him.

Viral Politics on Our Money. I was waiting to pay a bill today, while the person in front of me was getting his change. He got something that stopped him in his tracks. Something that he showed all of us, getting a huge reaction. He got a bill (I'm not sure if it was a $5, a $10 or a $20 one) which had stamped on it, in bright red letters, “BUSH LIED.”

this is a pretty old, but still useful tactic. it spreads a message, though lots of people don't look closely at money in the u.s.
